Annoying drip

Hi guys, Nick has got an annoying problem with the S (it's been there since he bought it). In wet weather, the car drips from somewhere in the footwell, and water drips down onto the brake pedal. Are there any places it could be finding its way in?

Could be a number of issues.

Could be getting in past the screen then running down wiring or heating ducting and dripping off the lowest point.

Could be getting in around the brake or clutch cylinders. Or the throttle cable. Or the wiper spindles. Or even the wee clips that hold the rear brake pipes on to the bulkhead on their way to the rear brake valve. Or the mounting bolts for the valve itself.

Anywhere, in fact, that there's a hole in the body, bearing in mind that the leak point might be some distance from the drip (if it's running along the wiring etc as above).

Mine had exactly this problem and it took me ages working my way round everything above - I think it ended up being around the clutch cylinder bolts..

Yes.





where the wiper spindles come through is a favourite and the throttle cable and, as said, anywhere anything goes through or is bolted through the bodywork

Water ingress via the wiper spindles (up behind the dash) means that water can run down the steering column.

How about the space between the bonnet catch and body? I had this problem after replacing my catch but not sealing around it. Bit of silicone and all sorted.

if its anything like mine was; wiper drive holes and where the cables etc run through the bulkhead above the drivers footwell.
