does a 55 profile tyre look odd?
Discussion
Until a few weeks ago I had 55s on mine but only because it's what the car came with - my previous S's have had 60s which I think look a bit better. My current one now has 60s but only because I'd worn the 55s out!
The guy I got the car from swore the 55s gave better grip and even though I've only been out for a relatively gentle drive with the new tyres I think he may have a point, although there isn't that much in it I think.
From an appearance perspective, when my S was on it's own I was never that aware of the space in the wheel arches being too big, it was only when I parked it next to one with the 60s that it became noticeable.
And I didn't experience any grounding issues with the 55s. In fact, I had less problems than my previous S, I think thanks to the car with 55s having better suspension and different exhaust brackets
Here's some pics with the 55s which might help you...

Thanks for the replies on this gents.
The 55,s dont look that obvious in the photos - your right (nice indicators by the way - must've cost a fortune as in mint condition)
Ive been debating a load of issues on the tyre front and I want to get something which is a bit stickier than the dunlops I have on the back and my old front tyres of a make im almost too embarassed to mention (Triangle!!!!) - the fronts now just lock up on braking after I changed over to bigger discs and calipers but they are really bad tyres. I figured something newer and stickier would help all round to be honest and there were more in 55. I was tempted to go the whole hog and get Toyo R888 but that is a bit extreme for a car that probably cant perform at the level intended, so seem to be thinking Bridgstone ER300 Turanza or Continentals. I hope they are adequately sticky that the problem of lock up is reduced a bit. Thanks for your thoughts - Pete

Hi - its not a huge upgrade. 260mm discs with XR4 calipers and fitted new standard drums on rear because they were causing the judder. If I'm honest, I don't know what this has done to the brake balance, but the conversion was done by professionals (not me) so I'd hope they could tell me. I haven't a clue how the balance can be adjusted now done and if incorrect so your advice would be welcomed. Pete
