Can anyone recommend a good place to get some bodywork done on my s2 in North London?
Thanks to an m3 dropping oil at the Nurburgring I now have a scuff on the front bonnet and some
Minor damage to the offside rear just under the light cluster.
My insurance has said there's no way to claim of the m3 driver and don't really want to claim off my own policy and given how minor the damage is I can't believe it is worth me claiming on my policy (paying the excess and losing my ncb).

I am yet to find a policy that will cover for the 'Ring' in particular.
I have my insurance with Kwik Fit I read through every policy document before I went and there were no ring clauses, have also spokento them since returning and reported the incident. They said as it was oil that was dropped oil they wouldnt be able to prove negligence and therefore I couldn't claim of the 3rd party but could claim of my own policy as I'm fully comp.
There are aloe of myths about insurance for the nurburgring. Firstly insurance is definitely needed for tourist days as a legal requirement. Secondy don't assume you not cover you, not all companies have a clause naming the ring and if they don't specifically name it (or state something about unrestricted toll roads) you are well within your rights to assume u are covered. Thirdly even they do have a clause excluding the ring it is a legal grey area as TP where'd they can actually deny 3rd party claims.
Remember the ring is NOT a race track it is a 1 way public toll road (by German law) and even though most of it is unrestricted there are 3 areas with speed limits.

Sorry to hear about your problem. When I was there at the weekend there were 2 sections where the oilspill signs were out - I'm glad they were there to warn me!
Insurance for the Nordschleife is a minefield. I've read of too many people who thought they were fully insured but their insurers thought differently. Yes, your policy must provide basic 3rd party cover because, as you say, it is a German toll road (even if it is a very long one way German toll road!!). However in the cases I've read about the insurance company has paid out as they should under the 3rd party arrangements then gone after the individual concerned to reclaim their costs!
Don't forget an incident on the Ring does not always result in simply repairs to a car; I cannot remember the cost, but the €'s per metre for new barriers is huge, if you need a recovery vehicle to get you back to the carpark that must be paid for, there are the costs the Nordschleife will charge you if the track needs to be closed for any length of time and (most worryingly) if you drop oil or debris and a biker comes off and is paralysed for life you will be facing a bill that for most of us = bankruptcy...
But apart from your "off", how did you get on...? After I did my 2 laps one of my mates took me round in his BMW M3 - very very quickly - it's amazing the difference ABS, traction control and being wrapped in metal can make when compared to driving a 20 year old S2!!

If you are there on a TF day then in 99.9% of cases you are NOT insured on the "ring", yes you need normal insurance to go on it, if you have an accident though then your insurance company will (rightly so) say you were "speed testing" which insurance companies do not cover for, there is a massive thread on the Trackdays forum on this subject and as ever is sometimes controversial/argumentative.
Anyway sorry to hear about your accident I am genuinley gutted for you, I have done the ring the last 2 years and it really is a case of "there for the grace of god go I" Hope you enjoyed the track itself though, did you manage a timed lap ?

hell I was just thinking how flat the camera made the landscape seem , especially the drop after the first section where the GP track rejoins, then there was the shiny track on the left folled by...

You first post above said you only had minor damage to the car which I think is lucky in the circs. I imagine your underwear and seat suffered slightly more major damage

Sorry should have said in total 3 bikers crashed on the oil. Miraculously all were ok. The bike in the video was a Brit biker we helped him bodge him bike so he could ride it off the track (saving 180euro recovery fee) he then put it in the back of his van an drove home.
The 2 other bikers were German and their bikes couldn't be ridden but me and my mate gave them a lift back to where they were staying ( as we're both bikers and it ws near to our hotel)
The only injury was suffered by a woman to her foot. She was a passenger in a fiat 500 that got shunted by a polo.
