On the way back from Twickenham today my car began violently kangerooing down the road and then stalled when I pulled over.

I gave the car 10 min to cool down then managed to go for 20 min, when it happened again, and so on until I got home.

Is this the dreaded throttle pot?

If so, what is it I need? A Granada 2.9 Throttle pot? I've seen somthing about gold connectors, what's the deal there?

Cheers

yeah its about £54. You may or may not need the new style connector. Can always buy one and take it back if you dont need it.

Check and clean the connectors - if it's suddenly started doing it, it's more likely to be a problem with the connection than the pot itself. Poor engine management system - 0 ohms - 10 Mohms - 0 ohms etc ...

blimey, all the scrappies down here now won't let you anywhere near the cars for fear of litigation when you cut yourself, fall off one etc. You tell them what you are after at the desk, they go off and get it and you pay at the counter. Bet they have noticed a reduction in the thieving too.

Oh, well never mind. Gave the connectors a clean to no avail. So I've fitted a new one. Looks like it's been replaced in the past. Full Throttle ahead for me!

The Ford part is 6854780, cost £38. They do seems to crap up easily, mine was playing up and still read ok for resistance, so I would just go for a new one.
