I am thinking about finding out what my old V8S has left in the power department.

Can anyone recommend a rolling road specialist, within 100 miles of Manchester?

Or is there anyone in the Lancashire / Yorkshire area with a good standard V8S that is prepared to let me follow them in mine to see if mine goes as well as it should?

Julian Lane in Derbyshire would be the best person to ask. I remember he was planning to sell his own rolling road but he'd certainly be able to advise where else is available in the area, and I suspect he may even be able to organise a session with you if you want. Joolz would be the ideal man to look at it and make sure the car is producing its full potential, if he's available. And if you're thinking about upgrades, Joolz would be the ideal person to talk to about that too.

Try Raceproved in Sheffield (speak to Jonathan who owns it) - good guys & know what they are doing - had mine tested & then tuned there in March. Highly recommended

I can highly recommend Rob at Mini Sport in Padiham. He sets up the carbs on my Taz racer and he knows how to operate a rolling road!

I rang raceproved this morning and I am waiting for them to ring back.

Mini sport is a lot closer and would be a lot easier for me to have it checked on the rolling road, but should they find the power is down, I don't know if they have much experience with the TVR setup to identify what may be wrong, has any one any history of them with a V8S?

No spoke to Raceproved today and they have a guy with a V8S called Julian working for / with them. Hopefully I will let him lose on mine next week.

I will post the before and after HP when I get over to Raceproved.

Had the car to Raceproved, and result, the car survived the dyno run, and the computer said it is producing 225 BHP at 5500 rpm. that is a lot better than I was expecting.

Can't praise Raceproved enough especially Julian, what a top bloke.

I don't know any other figures from that rolling road to compare against, but if Jools was there he certainly would. (It's probably his rolling road that they're using.) Taking Austec's rolling road as a reference, 225 is a very good result indeed - standard engines typically score around 200 bhp (plus or minus a few depending whether they're catted). But for the comparison to be meaningful, you need to know what a typical standard engine would produce on that rolling road.

Thanks for that, The reason I took it to the dyno was to establish if the car needed any work on the engine. I am not really that concerened if it produces 200 or 225, I just wanted to know if it was a good one or not. Julian advised that the engine is strong and he did not find any problems, and did not recommend any work that needed to be done. He did state that his produced 205 BHP on that rig, all be it some time ago.
