Just a comment, see what others think. I believe these catches were added to resist the targa panels coming off in a crash. Frankly the plastic catches break so easily, and are at such a poor angle, and fitted to so little material, that in the event of a crash that affecs the roof structure they will either break or become detached. Anybody unfortunately able to confirm that from exerience?
On the other hand the catch is nicely placed to go through the front of your skull if you are thrown forward far enough. or the roof comes down to meet you. Sit in your car and try it! Metal replacements make the situation worse? I have now removed the catches out of mine. Right or wrong?

I would have said wrong?Right or wrong?
I thought they were a little "insurance" to prevent roof panels detaching themselves at speed if body flexes severely (eg big pothole) or rear stays unlock etc?
