Dials misting up

After about 20 mins driving, the 4 central dials (oil pressure etc), start to steam up - is this a "Standard Feature" of the S???

Certainly is on mine. In colder weather they mist up, if I put the heater on it seems to clear them, warm air i guess leaking out of the demister pipes. They dont clear the screen so might as well clear the dials!

This is normal you can cross that of your things to do list

It’s a little known standard feature and works a bit like a barometer (or seaweed!). If the dials steam up it means the air is humid and it’s going to rain so you shouldn’t set off without the roof.

From memory it's always the voltmeter that mists the least - so why is that ?

Similarly on all the S3's that I have seen the targa panel lugs corrode more on the offside than the nearside panel - explanation ?

Could be the way the meter movement works it produces a little heat inside the gauge.

how about using lots of petrol so you can fill it up before it goes
up in price again having fun and saving money makes good sense to me

I read somewhere (probably in this forum!) a long time ago about someone drilling a very very small hole in the glass for each dial which was not very noticeable and cured the problem.

Hi Longers, a few years ago my tacho played up so I drilled a small hole in the casing. The hole can just take a WD40 straw so a little spray was in order, the tacho works fine and the WD stopped the misting up problem, simples
