I'd suggest changing the bulbs to 5w ones. You can get green ones but if you can't find any, paint clear ones with green ink. Also consider changing the standard bulbs for LED ones which might be a bit brighter. More info here

I spent quite some time last winter swapping the speedo/revo counter lamps to LEDs.

Beware that cheap LEDs are like spot lights where what you need is a broad diffuse light. I tried several types and ended up with some wide angle LEDs that worked OK.

I did post some pics on here but I can't find the thread.

Good luck.

Having used those little LED's for the centre console I wouldn't use them again. Far too fiddley and fragile. I'd go for the LED equivalent of the 501 bulb which just plugs straight into the existing bulb holder. eg

I haven’t fitted these so can’t say what sort of light they give off. I did fit some amber 501 LED’s to the side repeaters though and they work fine.

hi, i am cool with good old fashioned bulbs - they were plenty bright enough, especially considering the reflection on the screen - which is mighty distracting
