Key for glove box
Discussion
Mike,
It would be nice to have a lock!
My S2 had what looked like a wooden kitchen cupboard handle; I’ve seen it on others so it must have been standard.
It does in fact now have a kitchen cupboard handle fitted but it is a nice chrome one and looks the part
......B&Q keep a good range!

Do you mean the rather large and awkward round key?... The one I'm convinced I'm going to lose sometime soon. It's too bulky to want it on my keyring, so it rattles around inside the car most of the time. Might as well not be there as the glove compartment lid often falls open if you go over a bump!
Oh and sorry Mike, I don't know where you can get them, so no help I'm affraid!

I've also have little pouch too under the steering column - a real mod con!
The key looks a bit like the ones you used to get for some PC's a while back, so you could always try a computer shop (one of those little back street type ones, not PC World etc.) and see if my theory holds true.

Both of my keys have a 3 digit number stamped inside the tube bit.... guess you will need the code number as I would assume it is lock specific.
The name of the company stamped on the key is southco fasteners just did a search on yahoo and they appear to have a web site www.latches.com
hope this helps

Guess what....
I've got contacts at Southco and Sidlock who are the main manufactures in the UK for these barrel type locks....
I will have a look at mine over the weekend, I'm sure TVR would have used a standard barrel. The only difference would be the Keycode for each car.
I might be able to get a replacement key or maybe a new barrel and flat key configuration... We use quite a few versions of these at my work....
I'll keep you posted.

If the Glove Box has a Key operated Barrel/Latch lock, these are available from Woolies cost about £7 with keys.
I bought one with the intention of fitting it on the boot lid to avoid the occasional problem of the cable jamming and stopping you from getting in, plus also the added security it gives.

Just in case anyone needs a glovebox key in the future, you can get them from TVRcarparts.com at a cost of £4.50. The keys are not coded so one key fits all.

Good news Rick C, I'm not bothered about security, I just want to get rid of the crap piece of card holding it shut.

Key is knackered though, I thought of trying to make a new one out of a bit of pipe with a file. I have some card wedged in to hold the glovebox at the moment
