Can anyone help?

I have a V8s and whenever I come to a halt, the tickover is about 1500RPM. After about 10 seconds it comes down to about 800RPM. Anybody experienced this before?
Cheers,
Paul

My S3 did that, was a bit of a sticking throttle cable.

My V8S has done that a couple of times. Seems better since it's been for its recent 12k service.

Also had probs with tickover dying after a hot engine re-start... have you experienced that also?

Cannot really offer any solutions. Seems that it could be one of a number of things (search forums on this subject).

I had exactly the same problem with my S2 (not a V8 of course), it revved high at 1500 rpm or so until I came to a halt. I never did find out the cause as I changed a faulty air flow meter, idle valve and the TPS at the same time and it was cured, so I can safely say that it was one of those!

Thanks one and all, I'll try the suggestions, and hopefully will cure what is a minor niggle on an otherwise great car.
