Far better to get the rad recored

Rad weld has a nasty habit of blocking parts of the cooling system leading to more serious probs

All IMHO

I know it has been weeping for over twelve months as it was noted on the previous MOT inspection.... next question with regard to recoring is ... where and how much and how long does it take??? the car is a daily runner... which probably is all the more reason to get it done properly!

Providing the rad is not leaking too badly, Radweld OR Bars Leaks should solve the problem, I have used this twice over the years with NO ill effects, but perhaps I was lucky, but I would say give it a go.

Both products have been going for over thirty years, and if they were no good I don't think they would be still in business....(all imho of course)....

My cars were daily runners, (One was a Capri 3.0S), cured the problem a treat.....

All you do is tip it in the header tank. Simple. Cost less than a fiver. Also Bars leaks is supposed to lubricate your water pump.....

Any decent car radiator place should be able to do it. The core is from a Sherpa van but they will need to retain the existing end tanks and mounting plates.

Depending on how quickly they can get the core it should be a quick job for them.

mmmmm........ as i have bought from a main dealer with a twelve month warranty I think that they can have it back when I go on my hols.... already booked in with them for another issue... don't want to put anything in the cooling system that may affect the warranty!!! Suprised they didn't pick up on it though considering it was mentioned in the cars history and they had it for a good 3 weeks!
