Aerial won't retract all the way down

You might have some crud or water in the bottom of the motor. They used to put a drain hole at the bottom of the Aerial to drain out excess water. What i would do in this situation :-
Run a thin layer of Lube ( 3 in 1) down the mast, get someone to push the last section of the mast down when you turn off the Radio ( assuming its wired that way ). This may free it.
In the old days you could dismantle the lover half of the Body, and lubricate the nylon bone inside the sections of the mast / drive and worm that is wound up inside the lower body. I have learn't from experience this gets very gummed up ( grease that has hardened over time ).

I had this with mine. The aerial is pushed up and pulled down by a length of nylon cord (very like what you'd find on a strimmer). If you dismantle the unit you'll probably find the last 6" has snapped off. I fixed mine by simply taking the brass stopper ring off the broken bit and fitting it to the remainder of the cord and putting it all back together. A bit fiddly but simple enough. Mine goes up and down again now and just makes a clicking noise for a few seconds as the motor tries to wind back in the missing 6". I suppose it’ll wear out eventually but it works fine for now (kiss of death).
