That is, the two rods and three connectors that clamp the fan housing to the rods.
Mine were rusted to burgery when taken off and need replacement. Looked into using stainless 8mm rod and cutting a thread but the steel is too tough to cut a thread using a standard tap and die set (Tungsten steel).
No issue with using threaded rod, I can always cover the exposed sections with heatshrink, but does anyone know if the rod to fan connectors are still available? TVR Car Parts suggested they were not. Again, I could make some up but off the shelf would be better.

Recently re-fitted my fan, I've used M8 allthread as you've suggested. Solid rod would be better but much more expensive and difficult to thread (and who's going to see it?)
Not actually made them yet but have bought some nuts like these to try and make the mountings (on originals at the moment). Will obviously have to up the fixing screws to M8,not much room at the fan housing but reckon cap heads will be ok.
Think drilling an 8mm hole through an M6 nut would weaken it too much?

Yes, I tried the same. The long nuts you show are stud connectors, as threaded rod is often called studding (Sorry if I'm stating the obvious) If you weld two 8mm together at 90 degrees then the 8mm bolts are too big for the fan and wont seat all the way down. I tried a 6mm welded to an 8mm which was fine but the 6mm piece needs cutting about half way down as the extra length makes the orange fan surround push against the rad.
When welding put a 6mm bolt into the stud connector otherwise the molten metal fills the nut inside and you can't get the bolt in.
When I get something that works I'll take a few pictures and draw it up.

Slightly different with the threaded bit & a nut but doesn't really make any difference.
There's potentially a lot of weight bouncing up and down at the front - could a SS bolt / threaded rod shear?

Stainless studding with standard mounts survived this......I think (but I'm certainly no expert) stainless is tougher than many people think, and of course there are different grades/qualities.
Might have been over on the Chimaera forum a guy did some very un-scientific tests putting various bolts in the vice and belting with a hammer till they broke. The stainless bolts bent just as far, if not further, than normal steel bolts before breaking.
Had a go with the cantilever bolts and I have to say they were fine. The only real problem was drilling out the hole to 8mm. Because its chrome plated a good tungsten carbide drill bit is needed.
Anyway here's the finished article. BTW the cantilever bolts come in packs of two at around a fiver a pop.
