Hi All
21k wow, I thought all the 1988 S1's had the 2.8 engine and the 2.9 was on a later year.

Looking at it i doubt its a 1988 car , possibly details incorrect at import .

Agree with Mycroft, probably misrecorded at import because it has the long doors and flat dash (not and S1 or S2), has not got AFM (therefore not an S3) and the battery is under the bonnet (S4 normally has this in the boot like in the V8S IIRC) therefore it must be an S3C unless modified.

Would be interested to know what the black box on the left front wheel arch is though (the one behind the air filter)

I think you are right - it does look like an S3C but with something else near the induction side and as that has some sort of heater type control cable going to it it must be the aircon or part of it.
Looks v nice condition.
