Anyone interested in my nice new smoked £180 rear lights?

Yours for a much more reasonable price if you are!

I've only changed them for red/grey because I have the red boot mounted high level brake light fitted and it looks better to have all red at the rear.

If you click on my link you'll see them on the car.

Oatz & WildfireS3, you both appear to want my rear lights!

What shall we do (I only have one set)?

If I have enough to drink tonight I may eventually see two sets and will probably be too piss*d to care anyway.

Bummer - I was after a set of smoked rears and would have been online when kentish first posted this thread.

Unfortunately, the hard disk in my laptop decided to wipe out and I had to reformat and reinstall. By the time I'm back on line - I'm too late.

Bleedin' PCs.

I am not suggesting KentishS2's lights are not a good buy but just a word of warning to those who are unlucky in buying this set and look elsewhere...

When I first changed the lights on my S I bought a set of fully smoked lenses. They were non-road legal as they lacked the E marking required. I decided to take the gamble on them anyway.

However, when I fitted them the lights were so dark I took the view they were dangerous. That was with the higher wattage bulbs supplied too. I sent them back and got a refund.

Instead I ordered the partly smoked lights as are now found on Claire's car, along with numerous other Phers S's. These not only work as well as the originals, they are also E marked.

To clarify. They are not heavily smoked and are in fact probably lighter than the red/smoked units that you opted for. These units are clear/tinted for a smoked appearance. Therefore, the visible light output is comparable to the original lights. The only thing that they need for UK legality are the red reflectors but these are provided with them (I have them each end of the reg. plate). I'm not sure that e-marking would apply to circa 1990 cars, it's a bit prior to this standard I think. In the same way that you wouldn't expect someone with a Morris Minor to have e-marked lights etc. I'd have to check on the E-mark query, not too sure when it came in.

What I do know is that my car passed the MOT without any comments on any lighting, I've also had police vehicles behind me and they haven't stopped me and my friend and neighbour is a traffic cop and hasn't mentioned them being unacceptable and he regulalrly chats and admires the car, so should be OK.

Just checked and they aren't e-marked but I don't think it's a problem on a car that pre-dates this standard which I suspect is why it wasn't an MOT failure.

Anyway, I hope that helps??

I dont think the lack of an E marking would make a difference, hence I was prepared to take the risk myself. The fact you have MOTed the car since the lights have been on there and the fact the Bib give you no grief are testament to that.
