I was out at the weekend in the S3 in a mini convoy and one of our guys (zzr1200) told me that my car was smelling of oil fumes when I lifted off the throttle.

Whilst my oil level looked ok last week (just above maximum), my oil pressure has gone from a rock solid 65psi to just above 50 psi but no lower. I'm a bit at a loss as to what to check.

zzr1200 suggested a loose breather pipe - anyone got any other ideas as to what I should check?

Cheers,

Mel

Valve stem oil seals are the most likely, unless you have over filled it. Do you get a small puff on start up to. UNless you are using a lot of oil there is not too much to worry about.

The breather pipe that runs from the drivers side rocker cover to the inlet plenum has a small valve at the cover end. IIRC this is there to prevent too much suction occuring on over run and oil accidentally being drawn out of the rocker cover. Could be faulty?

Ok thanks - I'll check it at the weekend. I did have my rocker covers recently replaced because they were leaking oil, so maybe there's a correlation... Thanks for the advice.
