Just sent this to my insurance company as I'm without wheels!

I have changed the registration number of my car from x280 RLF to Fxx 2345 and informed Admiral of this subsequently but despite repeated requests for a new certificate of insurance nothing has been received to date (I last asked a Helen xxxxx on 30th June to send a replacement as soon as was possible).

My road tax ran out last month and I have now had to declare my car as SORN and I'm unable to use it. This level of service is completely unacceptable as I have been relying on lifts and tonight had an hour and fifty minute walk home when I have a perfectly good car sitting on my driveway which I'm unable to use due to lack of competence on the part of my insurer. I do have a second vehicle but this is a classic and is undergoing some work at my garage and is currently out of use. I had been looking forward to renewing both of my policies with you again later this month but I may have to reconsider.

Your service appears to encourage your customers to commit motoring offences, call me sceptical but I guess in the longer term this may be in your financial interest. Can you please ensure that a new insurance certificate is sent to me as soon as possible, this may avoid my pursuing this matter through the insurance ombudsman and any consumer watchdog programmes.

Many thanks, your customer.
Blah, blah, blah

kentish, Sounds like you have had a nightmare.

Nothing to add but to say I am with Admiral and whilst they weren't the cheapest quote I'd got, the service I have received from them over the last 10 or so years (I'm very brand loyal !) has been nothing short of top drawer. Looks like you have been unfortunate in having to deal with one or two less than competent employees whereas I have always found them to be very efficient.

Guess that's just about the same wherever you go ?

Hope you are mobile again v.soon.

I had no problem when I changed my reg, but I am with Jardine Birshe, freindly and reliable.

Must admit I am still driving on cover notes 6 months in

Thanks fellas, they had been good until now.

It's been like getting blood from a stone but I think my complaint has worked, rec'd a call from a very helpful lady earlier and it sounds like it should all be in hand.

Also, I spoke to the garage and the S is ready (again) for me to collect. Let's hope they have sorted the exhaust banging on the chassis properly this time.

I know I could have fixed this myself but why should I when they've just had £900 odd from me?

Give the GISC (General Insurance Standards Council) a call. They should resolve the issue for you. Try www.gisc.co.uk .
