V8S inertia switch
Discussion
Anyone know where to get an inertia switch for a V8S?
Just spent most of the day tracing a weird electrical fault. The fuel pump would not prime but the pump was not the cause.
Replaced the fuel pump relay with a spare, still no joy, refitted relay (was newer than the one used for diagnostics).
Shorted out the inertia switch, still no joy, but left it bypassed.
Chased around for a few more hours getting all sorts of weird signals at the ECU and relays.
Replaced the main relay and bingo!
Put inertia switch connections back on switch = No fuel pump prime.
Shorted out the Inertia switch and all was well again.
Bottom line I had no feed to the fuel pump due to a faulty main relay AND a problem with the inertia switch.
Btw one of the other symptoms I noted after I had found the cause was that the ICV did not cycle either.
I guess the relay could have got sticky over the winter and the inertia switch just fancied joining in the fun.
Still at least I got the new servo and MC fitted and sprayed the wheel arch internals, so not too bad a day. Tomorrow will see me feeding the rats nest back into the passenger footwell and installing an electric window relay mod.

Yeah, I've had all those problems (and more). They can get compounded when the relay contacts relax with age/heating/corrosion so you get poor contact and overheat the next relay too...
The inertial cutoff on mine had disintegrated into a lump of rust, I was amazed the engine had managed to run at all. I junked the whole thing.
