Looking at the photo in your profile I have the same colour S and I thought it was called 'Monza Red'.

The paint code is in the chassis number I think, I'll see if I can dig out the thread about it (helpfully the search is still down).

if you do find a supplier let me know, I want some too!

Hi Tom
Yes looking at your photo they do look the same,
If you know how to work out the code from the chassis number that would be great smile

Well I've had a search and this is the thread I was thinking of.

There is a 'body code' on the VIN plate and I think it is the first or last set of characters that is the paint code. Something like 'P146'. Sorry I can't remember the exact details and my car is currently 30 miles away so I can't check.

It was several years ago but I seem to remember my code wasn't easy to find a match for but I didn't try very hard! I want to paint some new wing mirrors so would like to get to the bottom of this myself.

If you contact Surface & Design they will almost certainly be able to identify the colour and supply some. If it's a red though it may have faded over the years so maybe it would be best to take the car to S&D if it's not too far, or a good body shop to try and get a match.

The paint code is the last code on the body code panel, ie. KV52. Surface Design 01253 595800 will be able to supply a touch up stick. Hope this helps.

I'm so jealous, I wish I had a VIN plate! Does anybody know where I can get one because Blackpool were too busy to put one on mine when it was built in the halcyon summer days of 1987? Perhaps they had run out of stock but still had to meet that delivery date.........rolleyes
Or perhaps it was getting late on a friday afternoon and the pub was open......... beer

Don't trust what it says on any paper work. Have a look under the bonnet there should be a plate either top left or right (can't remember at mo) near windscreen that has a lot of info on it one of them will be the body colour. It will start with a letter followed by some numbers. Halfords found mine for me and were quite resonable.
