Exhaust baffles.
Discussion
I had a look at my exhaust and it appears to be in good nick save for the crack where I hit a speed ramp a little hard.
So, I'm having it welded locally and I'm having the baffles sorted as they are shot.
I know some of you have previously mentioned that there are no baffles in your system but I was wondering whether this is legal (are there any noise limits) or is that your exhaust is only illegal if it is blowing?

have a look here mate www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=111161&f=10&h=0&hw=how+loud
Mine has no baffles (was measured at 127.8 db at Pistonfest) and never had a problem with the plod.

Mine HAS baffles and was measured at 127.7dBA at PF…
Removing the baffles from the V6 is a tricky thing… It'll sound nice, but you WILL loose power; this was tested on my S and with an exhaust engineer who worked on the Cologne V6.
I've spoken to Tim Lamont on the subject and he can arrange for a sports system without baffles, but the bore of the pipes is reduced to compensate...

My pipes are not a particularly large bore, not like the Penninsula system, so I guess mine could be OK?
I think I'll go for it and see what it's like, he's only asking £30 to sort the welding anyway.
Should you leave anything in, or can it all be stripped out for a straight through?

I know Wildfire has a Tim Lamont supplied JP straight through system (the reduced bore job)… so might be worth asking him what diameter the pipes are…?
Good idea Pod, I'll have to ask him.
I haven't seen any postings from Chris for a week or so, has he gone away on his hols?
