s3c lower door hinge problem.
Discussion
Today the plan was to change the nylon bushes in the door hinges ,stripped the door to access the lower hinge plate but have hit a problem in that the 17mm center bolt turns but wont come out ,it appears the brass nut bonded into the sill is spinning, has anyone had the same issue as iam scatching my head on a solution cheers kev....
Thanks for the info Norman .Looking at the lower centre sketch ,if i cut the head off the bolt and remove the hinge plate this will leave me with the shanks of the bolt in the sill protruding into the door with the 2 adjusting bolt mounts making access impossible .Also looked at removing the top hinge this is also very stubborn and sounding like this could break through the fibreglass.
Yes to do the job properly the door needs to come right off. May be worth soaking your top bolt with penetrating fluid, as I understand that the bottom bolt tends to rust more due to water sitting around it. Why didnt TVR use stainless bolts? There are quite a lot of threads on this over the years if 'Search' is working. Good Luck.
