Hi guys, picked up my 1990 BRG S3 last Thursday.

After picking up my girlfriend from central London we shot down to St Ives in Cornwall via the A303/A30. WOW it was such good fun! It's got a V8 s/steel exhaust and sounds amazing. 900 miles later we're getting on fine, just wondering if anyone can recommend a good independent specialist on the Essex/Suffolk border area (nr. Braintree/Sudbury)

It needs a good service, the electric mirror motors have packed up, the o/s headlamp unit needs replacing, i want two new front indicator lenses and there's a possible radiator leak - other than that perfect! Oh and does anyone know where I could get a wooden steering wheel? Cheers, Tim.

Welcome to the S Club, you will not de sorry you took the plunge. will you be able to come to the National S Series meet on 15th of August there should be 60-70 'S' Series there???? Its at Silverstone see the thread at the top!

As for a local specialist, the closest to you could be Offord Motor company in Offord Darcy! I can recommend them, if you want to know more drop me a line.

Hi Tim - I am in the same sort of area, just outside Sudbury. Also S3. Can recommend Kerridges (altho a bit pricey) - or if you want the name of the independents who deal with mine, drop me a line - they are close to Stowmarket. I'll look out for you around Sudbury.

Welcome to the fold. I know you are after someone independent but I live in Essex (Rayleigh)and I have taken the car to Castle TVR in Stansted Mountfitchet (a lot nearer for you) and I found them exceptionally helpful and the service was excellent. They've known my S3 for quite a while (the previous owner bought it from them) so they know their way round an S3. I know you might find cheaper but I felt comforted that they know what they're doing. After all you only want the best for your pride & joy. Anyway many happy miles in your motor and congrats on picking the right colour!!!

Thanks for the advice guys,

I've had estimates for the service from three of the recommended garages/dealers, not surprisingly at very different prices. It's good to know your experiences, so thanks again.

I'll get some pics on soon and I look forward to meeting some of you guys at Silverstone.

Cheers, Tim.

yep that was my car all naked...clutch slave cylinder went and arrived at Castle on the back of an AA truck. They turned it round within the week even tho they were very busy.
