My car is always kept in a heated and dehumidified garage and is therefore dry but I noticed when I go out with the roof down and the sun shines on the dash the instruments steam up a little. It also sometimes happens within a few minutes of first turning the lights on when the instrument lights are on. Does this happen to all S series?
Hi Mike,
They do clear after a while especially if the lights are on as this heats up the dial.
I guess it happens more with the roof down because the ambient temperature on the instrument glass is much lower than the inside of the dial because the black dial has absorbed heat from the sun. So, inside it is hot and the glass is cold which allows and moisture to condense on the inside of the glass. I guess it's just atmospheric moisture rather than a damp car.
I have also noticed it happens when I use the heater with the roof up as my heater works really well and the car can get very hot very qickly. I suppose the dial hasn't reached the same temp as the inside of the car and face of the dial causing any latent moisture to condense on the inside of the glass.
You can still see them and there is no lasting effect so no problems really just wondered whether my car is more moisture rententive than most!

The Bible it says its a common problem ---
I'm an Atheist, no Bibles in the house but I must get one for the S!
Maybe I could get Steve Heath there at the meet so people who dont have them can buy them!!! You never know he might give you a signed copy

Mike
Perhaps he'll arrive in a chariot (new model of Tiv?), bring loaves of bread for the BBQ and walk on water for us?
