Oil Pressure - help please!
Discussion
Hi Guys,
I've tried a search, as I'm sure this is a common thread, but the PH search isn't working, and I got bored after about page 20!
My oil pressure gauge is not registering at all - it was, and it's gradually shown less and less and now nothing....
I've just done an oil and filter change, and have also just tested the gauge (which is working).
So - next step, test the sender - am I right in saying that I should do this by registering the resistance it shows once the engine is running?
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!

If you've tried everything else and the engine is still running it's probaly the sender, so just buy a new one. They are not that expensive and easy to get hold of. It's what I did in the end after trying everything you have. It would have been much quicker and cheaper to start with the sender.
I had exact same story after oil change try this? Worked for me in the v8 but think it'll be compatible with gauges in other models if they work on same resistance range. Just wire the earth terminal to suitable earth point with bit of spare wire.

I'll be interested to see if this works - my gauge is a bit erratic and I've traced it to the sender unit but was told the sender and gauge have to pair and the chances of finding an after market matching sender were slim - I didn't/don't want to lose the TVR decal in my gauge by swapping both so I left it.
Be good to get a working gauge back.

Gentlemen - success!
I have just wired in the new sender, and the gauge is registering a healthy and constant oil pressure.
Many thanks to Gizzardio for the eBay link. £15 well spent, and it arrived the next day.
Very simple fit, have just run a new earth cable from the earth point under the battery, along a front cross member and round to the sender.
All in all, very happy!
Now just need to fit the new thermostat......
