Back to TVRs after a long break...possibly
Discussion
Hello all,
This is my first post here so be kind
I sold my Tuscan 6 before moving to France last century and am finally looking to get another TVR. I am after the one I always wanted, a 3000S but they are not too common nowadays, so whilst I wait patiently for the right one, perhaps a later S may be a stopgap.
Problem is, back in my TVRCC days of 20 odd years ago, I didnt pay much attention to the newer cars so dont know too much about them or what to look for in buying one.
Any advice on which model to choose, differences between them and what to look out for would be appreciated. I am after something that may become an everyday car (my wedge was doing 20K a year with only a few problems back in the late 80s) and I want to be able to do a bit of maintenance on it myself.
There seem to be a few S out there for sale, but finding the right one may prove more tricky, I am kind of nervous about rotting outriggers etc. Dont want to be going down the route of body off repairs etc
So, which model? S1,2,3,3C, V8?
What is the difference between the 1st 3? Is a V8 worth the extra money?
Spares availability? What can't you get hold of anymore?
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Dave

Welcome back (I'm sure you'll make it!).
I have a 3000S under rebuild right now and bought an S3 so that I had something to drive whilst the rebuild progresses (15 months and counting). I would have prefered a V8S since I like the burble of that engine but ended up with an S3 at the right price/condition and I'm well pleased with it. I'm sure the S1 and S2 owners are well pleased with theirs as well - they're a great drive. There's plenty to choose from on PH Classifieds (check out the Wedgies as well!).
Good Luck!
