I have just bought a starter button and am trying to think of the best place to position it on the dash, any suggestions???

I am thinking of putting it here, see pic.

Any better suggestions?

Cheers

Mike

I think I would be inclined to put it in the veneered part of the dash next to the main dials, rather than put it in the leather bit.

Somewhere within reach would be good...

Oh...And make sure it located so you don't have to turn your wrists unecessarily like using a key...

I agree with GreenV8s..

If you feel like going overboard with this, I'd suggest re-engineering the switch panel, changing the existing mirror controls for an all-in-one unit and putting the starter button there.

If that all sounds like too much hard work (it does to me), then I'd go with your chosen location (that's where I've got my little magnetic phone holder).

Of course, haven't you?! It comes on the end of a piece of string so that you can dangle it into inaccessible places and retrieve missing sockets, screws etc.

You do realise how awkward access is behind yor chosen location

Maybe it would be easier to re-engineer the switch panel after all!

Its actually not bad, you can get your hand around the back to feed the wires through the back after making the hole! Connect the button and push the button into place! Its not as bad as you might think Colin, its one of the reasons I chose there to be honest! I did also think about putting it on the tunnel, but dont think there is room under it!

Richard the button needs about 8cm clearance at the back and I think it would hit the stereo so possibly wouldnt fit. Also finding and fitting new switches and having a new switch panel made is a much bigger job! I am going to speak to the garage and see what they think, if they will find it easier to fit on the Wood panel I will put it there, should have it done for the meet anyway!

You sure you have 8cm clearance next to the oil pressure light,i can barely get my fingers to the bulb for the oil light

Personally i wouldn't bother with one as the elctrics on the S are iffy at best

Personally I don't think the S is of the era of cars that suit a starter button. They either need to be 1950's jobs or modern rice burners. Don't do it, just get your money back! Rich...

Then again you could also rig the horn switch to the brake lights, as the Italians do...

We can all run your battery down trying out your new starter button!
