Peter & Anyone,
I'm on a quest to find a set of seats which will allow me to drive the S for longer periods without turning me into a hunchback. Tried Chim/Griff seats, but not a lot better.
Seen from previous threads you've fitted a Cobra seat into the drivers position. Which model is it? I'm interested as Cobra say none of their seats fit the S!
Also, anyone tried to install Sparco seats? Dimensions look tight(but possible) to me but I'm worried they won't look proportionate.
Anyone going to the S meet have aftermarket seats I could have a look at ?

I'm after replacing mine with some later doeskin seats if possible. So, do Chim and Griff seats fit the S?
Of the seats you have tried, do you have a pair that you wish to part with now and if so what colour?
Uhhmm, similar interior colour to mine looking at your profile!

yep, straight fit apparently. Not tried it yet as not sure whether to go down that route or the cobra/recaro seats in Claires.
Super ...so if anyone out there has two sets one for me and one for Claire and Phil we'd like to hear from you!
I guess Claires' are also Doeskin colour, I may have to fight you for a set. Well actually you're bigger than me so I'd prefer to be punched in the knee caps by Claire.

Ta, it was its first outing to a meet so gave it a bit extra spit & polish (yep - Mid-Essex).
The Griff/Chim seats I have bolt straight in & yes, I'll be off-loading them. Think they are from an earlier car and are grey leather. I was planning to get them retrimmed to match my interior. They have better lateral support than the S seats but there isn't enough lumbar support for me.
Maybe not exactly what you're after but they'll be going fairly cheap!

The seats are a straight swap, I have the new style Griff seats in my V8S. Really is as simple as loosening the bolts taking them out and putting in the new seats, they use the same runners, I fit them myself so it must be easy 
!
Kennys Chim seats are a light grey, IIRC, the ones in the profile pic are his original V8S seats! You can have them re-connolised for about £100 to doeskin though, or if you ask Kenny he might know someone who can retrim them cheaply for you

There seems to be more than one set needed, so once Kennys have been sold, I know someone that sells Griff/Chim seats, will find out what hes got and let you all know, I think he has some Cerbera seats also!

Then again, I have no idea if my seats are 'standard'!

It's a shame that you don't find the S seats comfortable. I managed 6 hours of driving in the S on Monday without experiencing any discomfort, and that's one of the (many) aspects of the S I've always appreciated.

Never had any problems with mine either… someone told me that I had "lux seats" (bigger side bolsters apparently) but to be honest, they look the same as any other S...

Maybe it's just me. I had a serious back injury as a lad and the seats just aggravate it something terrible. I've tried cushions, lumbar rolls etc...all sorts.
I expect the forces aren't the same but the seats in my Pug don't have the same effect & are v. comfy.
I was planning to take the S back up to Scotland this year for a tour but need to get the seat issue sorted first.
Maybe I'll fit those 'Kneeling' posture chairs
The standard seats are too short for me (I'm 6'4 tall) and lead to back ache on long journeys. I also found it was next to impossible to wear a crash helmet in the car with the roof on.
I bought a Sparco bucket seat for the driver's side, planning to swap it for sprints and track days and put the standard one back for road use. In the end I found the bucket seat was so much more comfortable that I wanted one permanently fitted. I couldn't get the Sparco seat trimmed to match the interior for sensible money so I bought a Cobra Monarco seat, Cobra offer a wide range of colours and I got one that was close and then use vinyl paint to get an exact match. Of course the seat has had some pretty hard use over the last 100,000 miles and looks very tatty now.
I think one of the reasons I find it so comfortable is that there is a flat steel panel in the back, this is much better than having a badly fitted lumber support in the wrong place. The only problem is that there is no padding underneath either, and it is bolted rigidly to the chassis which has rose jointed dampers. The only flex between me and the road comes from the tyres!

I also think that the headrests are perfect as they adjust to a good height, and are actually positioned such that I can rest my head comfortably when driving (imagine that).
Conversely, the headrests on my wife's Rover are so far back that I think they'd probably help to induce whiplash in an accident!
