A new 'official' S-club is born!

Having cancelled SCH 2012, I'm delighted to say those lovely people at TVRCC were having none of it! The main show and prizes will take place alongside the Notts Classic Car show, on Bank holiday Monday 27th August at Thoresby Hall. More details soon but tickets will be available for £3.50, via the TVRCC. watch this space (and/or the TVRCC website) for more coming soon.

More details will emerge soon (it is still very early days) but the venue is happy to have us. The location is good, I've been to events there before and they tend to have a lot of things of interest.
Alayne has arranged a discrete parking area for TVRs and we are hopeful of it being a good event

Sorry, won't be going.
There were 8 of us (in 6 cars) going to S Club, and had eached booked 2 nights accommodation at a total cost of about £800 (non-refundable). Now that's a risk you take, I'm not moaning about that, but fact is, that is how much we are out of pocket.
I'm not prepared to pay for accommodation again, and get 2 days off work (the 27th isn't a Bank Holiday here and then we need the Tuesday to come home) after already spending that money on the trip that never was. I'm also not prepared to struggle to drive half the length of England, twice, on a bank holiday weekend.
There you go. No confusing "I might come if it's not raining" nonsense, which is no use to any organiser. No finding out suddenly at the last minute that I'm not available after all.
Maybe next year.

From the view of finding an alternitive, we were somewhat restricted due to time (e.g. finding a venue that would have us at short notice which is also fairly accessible) and sadly any change was never going to please everyone.
For what it's worth our Scottish friends support of this event over the years was most definitly metnioned, I personally brought it up during ccommunications over the past couple of days.
I realise that does not help from a practical persepective but maybe you will be pleased how well thought of you all are

I was saddened to hear of the Cancellation of SCH2012 and have to confess I was one of the intend-to-go-but-couldnt-be-absolutely-sure-so-didnt-committers but would have been in my burger-van anyway. Glad you have managed to salvage the day well done 
but sorry I know I definitely cant come now 
Great shame about the Scottish Raiders, thats a lot of beer money there guys. Maybe the way to redress that is for next years SCH to be in Scotland ? great roads, great venues, dodgy beer, foreign language, no health food, and cheap Deet! (look it up if you dont know what Deet is for )

SCH in Scotland would be good, but with some notable exceptions, I really don't think that a lot of people would make the trip. There were a lot of people saying "might come if it's nice" this year, but you can't do that if you've got 250 miles to go each way. Like Chatsworth this year, you go, and if it rains, you get wet. If you're Jim, you get wet on the way there and on the way back as well. We're hard core, we are...
Camping's fun, but not when you've spent a whole day in an S, and with the prospect of spending another whole day in it tomorrow. Or when you're a creaky old git. So you have to sort out accommodation months in advance.
But if there was definite COMMITTED interest... who knows?

Does beg the question - what if pre-booked turnout for this one is low?The TVRCC events team were very sad to hear from Simon that he had had to cancel the original SCH but they completely understood the reasons. The team has worked very hard over the last few days (lots and lots of emails and phone calls!) to ensure that there will still be an SCH 2012 and that all the effort and enthusiasm already put in does not go to waste.
The new event as part of the Notts Classic Car Show is not dependant on pre-booked numbers due, as Dave says, to the deal we've managed to sort for all TVR owners with the Classic Car show organisers. We've also arranged for a large dedicated TVR sub-show area than can cater for up to around 150 TVRs.
The main classic car show is well established and has been run on this day at Thoresby Park for many years. The TVRCC has supported the show for years and as Dave says always gets a very good turnout of TVRs (including quite a few Ss). We've had over 45 TVRs there in recent years.
The main classic show always has hundreds of interesting cars along with many car related traders and other stalls. There's even an adjoining fashion/gift retail centre at Thoresby for the ladies!

We'll be building on the work already done to ensure everyone enjoys a great day out by including as many of the elements as possible that were to be part of the original SCH 2012 and hopefully adding a few extra things as well.
We'll be firming up the details over the next few weeks but if anyone has any questions, please post them.
We're sorry that it won't be possible for everyone who intended to go to the original event to get to the new event due to the relatively short notice. We do however hope that as many S owners (and other TVR owners) as possible come along and support the new SCH 2012. You'll be assured a very warm welcome.

The tickets are just £3.50 per TVR including up to 2 adults & 2 children.
You will be able to pay on the gate as well (subject to space - and the show can get get full by mid-morning) but this will cost the standard public rate of £7 PER PERSON. So pre-booking is great value. The TVRCC office has already had quite a few bookings today.

You could still come down & stay in your booked accomodation & we could all meet up sat for a run out. Chatsworth may even have dried out.
