After full chassis and body restoration is it possible to drop body back on with fuel tank fitted? When I first removed the body I took the tank out first cheers

Pretty sure that's how they'd have been done when originally built but I should wait till someone who's actually done it comes along to confirm.

Only ever done 3" lift on mine and left tank and frame off till body lowered, the least possible in the way to wedge or complicate things (was doing it on my own with various jacks etc. a little at a time each end)

I put my v8s body on with the tank in place. Note my tank was not central so I would leave the retaining strap bolts off so you can adjust as you lower the body on. Also make sure you connect the fuel filler pipe as you lower it as its a real pig to do afterwards

This is how I did mine. Take note of leaving the fuel tank straps loose so that it may be adjusted as required when putting the body back on. You will also need to slide it back and forth to miss the boot lid strut too if this is still in place.

If you have a gas strut on the boot you have to remove the bottom fixing as it fouls on the tank flange otherwise the tank can stay on.

This wasn't the case with mine. I just needed to have the tank loose so that it could be pushed to the passenger side so that the top lip would clear the gas strut bolt. Once passed this then the tank needed to be moved back towards the drivers side so that the fuel filler could be aligned. A big soft adjuster is useful for doing this. Afterwards just make sure that the rubber seats for the tank are still in the correct place. Mine is a V8 though so could be different or I may just have a slightly smaller tank to everyone else. It also meant that I didn't have the fidly job of re fitting the strut again.
