Can anyone recommend a 'decent' set of HT leads? Does it make any diffrence?

Thanks

I'm using these, would expect decent quality from Bosch and they're a reasonable price. Done a few thousand miles and been pulled on and of a few times and still good wink

Personally I see no advantage to fitting expensive "Magnecor" type leads to a bog standard, low tech old school Ford engine.

Thanks Philpot, I agree. All Bosch stuff I've ever had has been very good. HT leads on order!

Mike those look good - can anyone confirm if there are the same for the S3C as the S3. Can't recall a difference but thought I'd better check!

Be aware, everybody, that the 2.9 engines had 2 different types of coil and/or distributor cap. Those leads will fit the DIN type coil and cap - that is, what most of us would think of as the "normal" female connector where the lead plugs INTO the socket.

However, many 2.9 engines were fitted with a dry coil and a Motorcraft distributor cap, which had SAE connectors (that is, spark-plug-like connectors on the cap and coil) and those Bosch leads WILL NOT FIT (well, they will, but not anything like properly).

My S3C and my old 2.9 (non-cat) Granada have the latter type of leads - they are much harder, but not impossible, to find, but you must get the right ones (or change the coil and cap to suit - I am not sure if the Bosch cap fits the motorcraft distributor, never tried that!)

Yes - good point. I did do a bit of checking before I ordered the above.

One site that was quite helpful is this one

That link to the SAE type leads but they also list the standard (DIN) ones. Also gives good cross-references to other makes such as Bosch.
