I've got Gaz Golds on mine, fitted last year. Excellent but just under £600 for all four corners.

Gaz golds all round with new springs ,with full geometry set up for me, made the car feel more planted at speed , which inspires more confidence at high speed cornering . Before this with original Worn shocks , it was total nightmare to drive .....dangerous dodgy little b45tard,

I was thinking that sort of price might have
to just do the rears for now. I don't want to spend
£400 on having the old ones re built if there no good,
they are 15 years old now so might not be possible anyway

Hi Barry , I would chuck the old shocks , or keep in shed for nostalgia , most owners who put new shocks never look back . Sure there are dearer And better shocks out than gaz golds , but for what values of s 1,2 and 3s between 3k and £5.5 k these get my vote anytime. . Ps improvements would always benefit car longterm ...

This is another plea to contribute to the suspension WIKI. If as many people as possible could contribute we'd have a fantastic resource to help with this sort of question. I know filling in the template is a pain so if you PM me the info I'll populate the WIKI. Ride height is optional or can be added later.

Do Gaz have any shockers made from steel instead of GOLD?
At that price I now understand why they're called shockers.yikes
That just has to be the price for a set.

Are Spax still in business?
Or Penske are supposed to be good.
Some serious shopping around is called for methinks.

Chin up Barry!

Just been looking in Burton's catalogue:

GAZ shocks £56 - £91
Koni. £87 - £175
Spax. £80 - £140
Prices are per damper incl vat
Springs are extra I think.
These are all for various Ford models, some with Macpherson struts.
Just to illustrate what price we should be expecting to pay.

Whichever supplier you choose, don't forget to ask for TVRCC discount!

Think those are the steel bodied units with rubber bushes top 'n bottom ?

these are the alluminium ones with spherical joints top 'n bottom?

Please check but I'm pretty sure prices on Motor Sport World are shocks only, no springs ?

I went for Protechs from www.racetechdirect.co.uk £600 full set last year.

Spax not sure if this is the "right" S ?

Mine came from here:

http://www.absolutelyshocks.com/TVR.html

He knows about the setup and gave me some advice about ride height etc. He also price matched a price i found elsewhere. Def under £600 for 4 with springs.

Sorry to hijack but is there no "replace as standard" option? I assume they are Ford Parts? Can they be sourced?

Ignore me if this is a Stupid question.....

Originals were Koni's I think, maybe common to some other vehicles ( would Koni design a shock just for TVR ?) but not any Ford I'm aware of.
