Air inlet hoses

Hi guys, I put corrugated foil inlet hoses on my S3, as originals had split, but mechanic doing the diagnostic has just told me they are no good (Don't seal properly, and have split already).

Does anyone know where I can get rubber replacements?

No idea if originals are still available? Clips on mine are Ford but are the hoses? they look a lot longer than pictures I've seen of Sierra XR 4x4 2.9i engine bay?

Check out this thread, starts off with V8's but some V6 info towards the end using silicone hoses and stainless or alloy pre-formed bends.

Hi Graham,
I got silicon air ducting for my S1 from AP Motorstore.
It's wire reinforced double wall, blue outside with orange bore.
Mine was 76 mm id & £23.96 a metre inc vat, but if yours is a 2.9 you'll
need to check the bore size of your hose.

They also supply stainless hose clips, check out their website.

Bore size for the S3 is approx. 50mm - will try and dig out receipt tomorrow!

Found it!

Bought mine from Siliconhoses.com.

I bought the SHV2-51. It's neoprene rather than silicone but it's also a bit cheaper and most important (to me) black rather than orange - looks closer to the original. 4m was enough with a bit to spare.

The old ones were a bit cream crackered...
Definite improvement from the new ones - suspect actually staying connected at the front of the car helps! I know they aren't quite connected properly to the eyeball vents in the dash so sorting that will make an improvement too. Routing them to avoid them kinking is quite tricky. they aren't as stiff as the originals - but weigh a lot less too.

No, that's the cheaper single wall ducting.
Mine was twin wall, blue on the exterior.
There is a black version on your link to preserve originality.

ETA Yes AFM to plenum.
