The complaints!!

I did expect it a lot earlier on than this, but a lady came up to me this morning and aske dme if I would be quieter when leaving my flat in the morning. Now, I am very quiet not taking it up to the 2000 rev mark until I am well away from the houses.

When I told her this was not possible she looked a bit put out and said that I should start it up and go straight away. When Isaid I need to warm the car up she lokked even more pi$$ed. I only run the car for enough time to fold up my Leven Car cover, it's no more than 2 min at the most.

Am I being unreasonable in wanting to warm the car up for a few minutes? Especially in winter when it snows.

Bah!! D**m neighbours, anyhow she lives about 6 houses away from me anyway.

Let the interfering bat know what it really sounds like ...... then she should be very appreciative of the measures you are taking to be quiet

Had a similar one to this a few weeks back -

I have no allocated parking to my flat so have to leave it wherever there is a space - Not many places in Richmond - anyhow, one morning I came out and someone had left a note on the windscreen

'Thanks for waking up the entire street, thanks a lot!'

I was slightly preturbed by this as I dont let my car warm up before setting off and consequently certainly do not rev it hard.

I left a note on the lamppost next to where my car was parked explaining that:

a) TVR's are loud and there is not a whole lot that can be dome about it

b) I always exercise the maximum possible restraint when entering and leaving the area

c) I never start the car at antisocial hours

d) most people like the sound anyway....

When i returned a couple of days later the note was gone and someone had replaced it with the short and sweet: 'Thanks for the detail but I was talking about the alarm...'

I felt a bit of a tw@t

Stupid woman!
Tell her to stick her head up her ar!e.....

My neighbour had a go at me at 7pm ...yes PM a couple of months back. He came over and had a go ....all wound up and angry and I'd only revved to 2000rpm with 3 or 4 blips of the throttle to get the alternator to cut in.

I told him that if I wanted to make a noise until 10:59pm then there was nothing to stop me doing so, then I told him where to go!

I thought it would kinda die out when I switched from my mini to the Tiv. When I had the mini, the neighbour had 18 month old twins, so I had a 7:30 curfew on the mini. But then it was a mini and I was seen as a bit of a boy racer. I though people would treat me more like an adult with the Tiv.

Besides what's she doing at 8:40, she goes to work 20 min later!!

Just reply and tell them that its a good job you have a TVR...

Tell them, that if the keep on you will go and buy an Unreliable TIN TOP, which will sit there every morning for 10 minutes turning over on the starter waiting for it to fire up.....

Priceless...

If people moan about the noise mine makes, point out that it IS legal, it has an MOT.. and it has the baffles in.. so if I take those out, it can be made louder...

Hi Wildfire.

I think you should host a meeting of the TVRCC, put a thread on here welcoming any other makes over 100dB, think of lots of reasons to start / stop / move the cars for a few hours. Maybe get a noise meter and test them all - an essential service to ensure they will pass on trackdays. Plenty of experimenting with trackday silencers on / off, different revs, etc. Make sure you invite her to the barbeque.

Or even make it a breakfast event!

The following morning your lone car will sound like a pussycat...

We have a couple of lorries (under 5 tonnes so legal ) who park outside my flat so they don't need to park outside their own houses - they make far more noise and they don't even sound nice.

You should tell your neighbors that by listening they are breaking copyright

BERGS2 - was it your green S parked in a narrow one-way street in the Richmond Hill area I saw last week?

I was dropping a colleague home in my S3.......

Our neighbour at our old house used to have a Chimaera and I used to complain every time he started it.

Mind you, it was just to my wife about the fact that I didn't have one!

It takes all sorts to make this world, shes clearly one of those peeps who hates the fact that the outside world even exists!

Im a peacemaker, considerate by nature, but when I receive abuse for the sake of abuse, from a whiner who dramatizes situations like she does, I do enjoy pushing "the little people with no purpose in life" to their small-time limits. Cut me some slack and tell me Im right in doing so

The old bat across the road from us always dumps her verbal abuse on my girlfriend, for parking legally ON THE ROAD in front of some grass which was technically opposite her front door, claiming that that piece of road was hers(!???) Thats crazyness, but shes nasty enough to encourage a little return fire.

We bought half a dozen laser pens at Airbourne today, and had a good laugh shining them through her window (excellent range!!) and laughing ourselves silly watching her peer through her curtains, trying to discover who or what was beaming red lazers into her living room

Those kinds of people... 99% of the time the problem is them, but they never see it.

Chris, sorry we didnt make it to the S meet today - will send you some dosh this week for the mirror. Some nice pics online already!
