Dropped off S at Austec this morning, Mike insisted Id be happiest with the new sports pipes they are fitting, without removing the baffles. I hope he's right.

Can anyone whose heard a V8S comment how the V8 sounds, with sports and baffles VS sports and no baffles? Would removing the baffles ruin the exhaust note of the sports exhaust, or not necessarily??

Anyway, the good news: My juddering/misfire problem is 100% sorted!!!

Despite someone having previously told-me(!) they'd checked the sparks and leads, it was actually the leads that had been causing the misfire and juddering! Mega relief and much grinning here when I heard the car is now running perfectly thanks to Austec!

The car is breathing better too with a new air filter, and having a full service (the next best thing to a full Podie, which I cant afford just yet)

Wildfire is sending Austec his spare cooper green mirror as mine was knackered, and they'll be fitting that tomorrow, sorting some electrics gremlins, putting in new brighter front bulbs and I'll be picking up the car on Saturday

Most of these upgrades and problem fixes are probably a walk in the park for most people here, but Im not much of a mechanic. Ive only got one tool, and its not a screwdriver

Roll on Saturday!!

Cheers Paul It was agony driving the juddering S around for almost 5 weeks, almost since the purchase date - just not knowing what the problem was, or if I was making it worse by driving it.

Really chuffed & relived here looking forward to some topless days in the sun with the girlfriend and the car, and the next sussex meet for sure!

Opinions seem to differ regarding sports exhausts. When I bought my last car (350i) it had a lovely deep sounding exhaust note (standard exhaust?). When it came to replacing it I opted for a 'sports exhaust' option from RT Racing - it was louder, I can't vouch for the power improvement but it had a more tinny, less satisfying note. I currently run a V8S, which until recently had what I assume to be a standard exhaust. At a track day last year it measured 106db! (100db track limit). How loud is a sports exhaust going to be?
I've just had a new system fitted by JC exhausts (through Tim Lamont at ACT) and it sounds great, especially under acceleration and it even sounds a bit psycho at tickover. Sounds about same db wise.

Sure did, slipped down there in Ol'Red, saw Pies on my way back, he was in the middle of a huge convoy on his way down there, but was too involved in getting all that power/noise round a left hander to see me though. It was a good day out and a chance to get another look at the Sagaris.

"Keithyboy" was also in the convoy with and almost identical car, (lighter trim) you sure it wasn't him that missed you

Nope definately you, and giving it your all you were. Besides is there another V8S that sounds like that?

BTW thanks for putting my photos on your web site, it looks really good.
