Hi, not been on here for quite a while but hoping i can get some help with my S2 charging problem. Trying to get car ready for MOT after a bit of long rest and i cant get the charge light to go out. Have checked wiring and connections but without luck i dont think its the alternator itself but any suggestions where i should look next ?

Why don't you think it's the alternator? That suggests you've already done some tests - what have you done so far?
Have you checked the battery voltage with the engine off (~12V) and then with the engine on (you may need to blip the throttle once to get the exciter circuit to fire) then you should have ~13V at idle and anything up to 14.5V at higher revs...

If that doesn't work try removing the diode from the back of the alternator and check that the carbon brush is free ( it's spring loaded) they sometimes stick with non-use.Have you checked the battery voltage with the engine off (~12V) and then with the engine on (you may need to blip the throttle once to get the exciter circuit to fire) then you should have ~13V at idle and anything up to 14.5V at higher revs...
