today i finally (after several false starts) bought a TVR
its an S1 in red with a "few" modifications
including - Cosworth BOA 24v V6, Jenvey Individual Throttle Bodies, suspension, exhaust, hispec brakes and bucket seats with harnesses.
the 175 mile trip home wasnt totally unenventful as the throttle jammed wide open and we managed to smash the passenger window whilst putting the hood up for the 1st time. (ok i smashed it, my friend Rob was round the other side and didnt smash that one - lol)
throttle was an easy fix - the mat was catching it, so removing it solved the problem and as a bonus gave more throttle travel (and more noise and performance)
the window will not be so easy though
all in all though i love it, I just need to find a passenger window.
and oh yes, it spits flames apparently

btw does anyone know what a hardtop is worth ? (this one came with the car)

and following the info in my original post, any ideas where I can get a s/h window from (i know Autoglass are supposed to stock them and theyre the same part as a Griffith but id prefer cheaper rather than new in this instance)

Hi, Congratulations on joining the S series owners forum.
There was a thread on here only 2 weeks ago, someone in France was broken into while on holiday, thieves broke the side window, I think TVR Gerald came up with a replacement, I have a drivers side one and so has Norman ( a regular mine of excellent info and parts ).
If you look for the thread link on S series it should come up.

Good on you bounty hunter, seems like a great purchase ...The guy you bought the car from has spent fortunes getting to that stage as you know...alot of s owners would like to do a cossie conversion to have more power and to keep that v6 roaring sound ...but are afraid of the many problems that it can throw up...eg insurance , and selling car on ...
My brother I'n law asked me to enquire about the car for himself , some time I'n July ,as the guy seemed genuine who was selling , I gave it the thumbs up ... But down to inspection I'n the flesh ... The only reason why did not go to look at it was distance for me ,down to cornwall from surrey , with back log of work on ...proably another thing my brother I'n law would be rubbing me up the wrong way( my car this ! and my car that ! ) If he bought it ...
Just a few questions did the guy manage to fix that speedo on the car I'n the end ... And are you going to mod the power bulge I'n the bonnet for rainy weather use , to keep moisture away near throttle bodies ... And last nosey question , I take your not tracking the car , as looks like you don't want the hardtop.. For a car you might only use I'n our fine British weather... Any way congrats and well done ... Keep us s owners posted on the trivals of a cossie s
Cheers Kie

hi kie.Cheers Kie
speedo = no
previous owner thinks dulfords "borrowed" the cable for another car, and then never replaced it before they closed - i'll investigate and see what i can do.
i used my garmin as a gps speedo for the drive home.
he didnt sort the revcounter either
but for that I think it needs a specialist lead to connect to the omex ecu but thats not expensive.
tracking the car is a possibility
but id prob do it roofless if i did (im 6'5" and wont fit in with a helmet on)
i'm also a big fan off roof of driving in general - i used my saab, e30 and mx5 convertibles all yr round, even roof down in the snow on a few occasions
so as things stand the hardtop is surplus to requirements
roof off is one thing, but driving with no passenger window however is another. ive phoned a few TVR breakers and no joy, so i'm gonna go see about a polycarb replacement this afternoon from a local rally specialist.

So want to sell it? I am about to spend on a good quality cover in the near future so might be interested if the price is right...
"if the price is right" - the key phrase to many things in life.tbh the best thing is to take this discussion away from PH as I dont want the thread closed due to it appearing to be an advert.

blog all up to date now - 5 entries taking me to arriving home last night.
Hi I would to see some more pics of the bonnet and hardtop fitment.. Do you just fold the roof down and fit..?
also bob engine are you running bob cams? What ecu are you running.. Also and sorry for all the questions what gearbox are you running...?
I wonder if you could take a mold on the hardtop and make a few up.?
in this climate they could go down well.
thanks

hardtop im not sure about, its actually at my friends atm cos it travelled home in the back of his car.
I'd considered making a hardtop mould actually, so i like the idea (great minds etc) - but not sure how to go about it atm.
its actually a BOA engine.
Jenvey ITB's
Omex ECU (not sure of the model atm, need to take a look at it)
i need to go through the paperwork and look for anything re cams.
I'll also ask the previous owner too.
If if hasnt got BOB cams i'll probably look into getting a set as they go nicely into BOA heads

Iirc the previous owner paid £450 for it, but i dont know how good a price that is (or not as the case may be)
