£76.30 for a sensor....your having a lafff....
Discussion
Not dealt direct with the factory but generally find the dealers pretty reasonable on price, sometimes even cheaper than elsewhere. Doesn't mean this is always the case though. On the other hand, isn't it possible that it's actually one of five, or that TVR modify it somehow? (They're infamous for this sort of trick, which is the main reason I prefer to buy through a dealer unless I'm *really* confident I know what the parts are.)
just spoken to david gerald tvr, & they say that the sensor is no longer available & some kind of after-market replacement speed sensing device is the only way to keep the car road legal?
dont suppose anyones got a spare just kinda lyin' aroud have they??
would be very gratefull, maybe even part with a pint for it.......

I got one from the local Ford dealer, Part no. F1012923 @ £55 +VAT in April this year. Initially they said there was a choice of four but on delving deeper they decided they had all been replaced by this part; but you have to remove the gear wheel from your old sensor and fit it to the new one. It works just fine on my 89 S1.5.
ahh, so is yours an electronic device with 3 wires & a plug attatched? got under the car last week with a torch & could just make out the problem, a yellow wire snapped off at the sensor.
spoke to a couple of ford parts peeps & they all said that the sensor may not be a ford part, as the speedo is not ford. therefore bieng a different type / calibration etc?
difficult to get any parts at the mo cus of what TVR are doing with respect to the spares for S's & wedges - as you may know?
all spares boxed up in a container waiting for a potential buyer for the job lot......
any takers for a new small business???
may be some top dollar to be had........
regards,
Richard.

Other than the 2.8 engined S1's all S's have the electronic speedo. The Ford part is compatable as it also has to drive the Ford EEC IV EMU. All the sensor does is output 10 pulses for every revolution - the Ford and TVR speedos are the same in accepting this input. What I forgot to mention earlier is that the new part has the wrong connector - just chop it off and solder on the one from your old unit. (Don't throw the old one away though, it can be used to make up a Octane/Idle speed adjust lead 'cos it it fits the flying lead out of the ECU!)
