Guys, just noticed that i have one of thise circular key slots in the panel just forward of cig lighter socket.
Looks like a crock lock type key would fit it, a quick feel around and appears wires are behind it,

old imoboliser perhaps?

Hi Simon,
Yes, that sounds like the most plausible explanation.
Or it could be to arm the nuclear warhead.
Either way, if everything is working as it should, I'd leave well alone.

Yes I would think some sort of immobiliser?

LOL I've got the crock lock if you need it ;-)

I had a more up to date version installed which was claimed to be an immobilizer until i went behind the panel and realized it was snipped off! But if i remember rightly the croc lock style was an immobilizer on my old mini and chimaera...
