The weather was fantastic today, clear skies and sunshine, had the top down most of the day and took a record 8 people for a blat

Everyone loved the S, and the new sports pipes are sounding just fabulous and...I managed to set off my first car alarm this afternoon which left me on for most of the day.

Got the usual looks and smiles with people turning around to watch the car rumbling along, but the best was pulling up at a set of lights this afternoon.

An older chap crossing the road in front actually stopped in the street, and grinning gave me the thumbs up, before hurrying across the road to wait with his mates for the lights to turn green so they could watch the S take off. I had to rev the engine up for them, and was rewarded with more thumbs up and plenty of grinning

My girlfriends 80 year old grandmother just so happened to be in the passenger seat at the time, but not wanting to let the guys in the street down after all the positive attention, I had to put the scary pedal to the floor - everyone loved it, and 'nan' said the car made her feel like a young woman again

Come on guys, I dont believe for a minute that you're S's dont bring you big grins.

It was these kinds of posts that Id spend hours searching for, fantasizing endlessly what it would be like to own a TVR

I was driving along in a 30 zone over the weekend, and guy in another sports car (cant remember what) gave me the wink and the nod as I went by (any knob gags and I'll take your head clean off Podie).

I was pulling up at a set of lights late last night, and heard one youngster shout to another "Listen to that!"

I just cant imagine having as much fun driving anything else, peoples responses are always different, but positive.

Agree , I smile every time I fire her up , I cry every time when I pay the bils too .
Nothing beats the sound of a RV8 first thing in the morning though.

Have to agree that the S is an excellent way to blow away the cobwebs.

I don't feel the need to write about every journey though - or every tiny modification - or every tiny fault I have to fix (well, I do, but on a separate web journal!)

You're right though, there are the little moments (and many of them) that make the whole S experience worthwhile - for example a few weeks ago when I went out for a little run around my area just to test something (can't remember what) but anyway I was driving through the next town and one of those new big two-seat BMW convertible thingies (I don't know or really care what it was - is there one bigger than a Z4?) pulled out of a side road just behind me, roof down, sunglasses on, he looked coooool.

I was wearing an old t-shirt after fixing whatever it was I was testing and I had no hat or sunspecs or anything - so BMW-man is following me along and a group of teenagers suddenly go "Waaaaay nice car mister" and he turns in smug satisfaction, then realises they are waving at me! I wave back to them, he passes unnoticed.

I had to stop shortly afterwards till the need to pee had passed.

Its great isn't it. Every time I get in, I think "Excellent, it really is as good I remembered it was"

If money bought grins, you should have one of the biggest smiles Harry, c'mon mate, giz a story - or are ya going to make me drag your favourite "grin tales" out of ya!

Just think, there might be some poor sod, teetering on the verge of buying a TVR, who will read the posts and... etc.

Yeah, what a great day, I fired up the S3 this morning at 7 o/c not caring about the cold grey skies, cos I knew the day was going to be good and despite a somewhat chilly, top off drive 125 miles up the M6, the sun soon came out and not even heavy traffic was going to spoil my day. The return journey was fab, this car is great cruising at 85mph and despite some funny looks this morning when it was a bit cold, the boot was on the other foot later when everybody looked on with envy.
I may be an old F*** with one foot in the grave but who the **** cares.

I have nothing to smile about, my S is in for its annual service.
I hope you guys realise that I am solely responsible for the recent spell of nice weather. It always happens, as soon as I can't drive the S we are getting a heatwave.

I think I'll get the next service done around Christmas time, just to experience Xmas with 20 degrees and 8 hours of sunshine a day. :

Or if any of you need good weather guaranteed on a particular day, for your wedding day or whatever, just give me call. For a small contribution towards the servicing cost I'll get the car serviced that day. With full 100 % money back guarantee....

I know this is a bit off topic but its about TiV ownership.
When I am on my drive I can`t see whats coming down the road due to a tall hedge, that means if I am out cleaning the car or something like ,and I hear what sounds like a TiV I only have a short time to look up and catch it passing the top of the drive , I miss the chance to wave at the passing cars. However last Sat I heard what could only be a speed six. I looked up to see a bronze Tuscan pass by accompanied by cheering and screaming by a couple of females who must have been walking down the path.
I had to smile to myself.
A moment later my wife and daughter turned the corner and walked down the drive.

Being new to driving, I also have a high hedge installed round my car which remains in position whilst driving. Im usually focusing so hard on other traffic, I miss most of the waves and positive attention from other motorists/pedestrians, its the squealing girlfriend which keeps me posted half the time.

Its changed my life though. Any car would be better than walking, but all I can think about all day is trying to finish work early (8pm is good for me) so I can go out for a blat. Having people actually grin/point or wave/smile at you when you every time you do find time to go out makes it entirely worthwhile.

I was worried that when I got my S the novelty would wear off but in reality its more like a drug that keeps getting better the more you take it.

Maybe they were giving the thumbs up to your girlfriends grandmother............?

Iknow what you mean though I smile on every journey and still invent places to go just to go for a blast!! Had a great weekend drove up the the North east in the V8S, 400 mile round trip for my uncles wedding. The weather was fantastic the whole weekend and I had the roof down the whole time. Had a few blasts up the A1 with various cars the best was with a new 911 turbo, who on putting his foot down and giving it some, was surprised to still see me in his rear view mirror! He was pulling away a little but not much and when we passed each other at a roundabout as he turned off he gave me an acknowledging thumbs up! Dont you just love Tivs.

At my uncles wedding, there were various nice cars there including some guy in a Boxster but they asked to have a photo with my car, the S has massive appeal.

The V8S was superb all weekend and never missed a beat, just hope the weathers good tomorrow so I can go for a blast!! MrSheen always calls me from his office to let me know he can hear me roaring through the town!

Later

Excellent

I'm coming to terms (after pondering upon the plausibility of said notion) that I may be evolving the poser streak within The S series just rocks!!

[cheese]Ocasionally I see my car, dont recognize it, and usually do a double take[/cheese] and [sad-but-true]admitedly feel a certain amount of pride when a contender from the Geriatric (or there abouts) divison comes for a ride and skoffs "I could Never drive a car like this"[/sad-but-true]

....

I remember the press in '91 claiming the V8S was quicker in gear than the 911T. After all these years the 911T has finally overtaken the V8S in the grunt stakes then, we won't talk about twisty bits though

Yeah through the gears the V8S takes some beating, the 50-70 time in 5th gear of 6 seconds is only 0.3 of a second behind the 911 Turbo its only taken 0ver 10 years and a £90K car to beat it Well done Porsche.

Ted's either going to have to bin this thread or rename it 'Poser Robs Daily Fix'

After a at the pub we called it a night. Several home-evading circuits of the neighbourood later, I dropped off my GF and wondered if I'd been PHing it too much, when my mind drifted back to the flirting thread in general gassing

I decided to do the usual and just go straight home, via town of course (just CANT get enough of the S) which is in the opposite direction

I'd love to say that half a dozen ladies flashed me and gave me thier numbers, (but wont, not wanting to incite jealousy in the S forum) and as always, the night was not without positive occasion.

As I pulled up to a junction [ego-pose-mega-boost-mode]along came a cyclist, staring at the car, nodding as furiously as a cyclist can nod, without shaking his head clean off its socket .

Feeling fully chuffed etc, I was suprised when he passed me, pulled over a little, then slowed, and kept looking over his shoulder again and again, staring back at me as I started to pull away.

Clear as day he wanted a show, and so it came to pass that the loud pedal was once again happily reaquainted with its siamese twin the floor mat

Its just so much fun, Im forever on grinning like a & loving every minute of it

Driving to work on M25 during school holidays, BMW M3 conv comes past in the slow traffic, Kids hanging out looking and pointing excitedly at my S and best of a all tapping dad repeatedly on the shoulder to look as well. Dad was resolutly looking straight ahead.
