Anyone noticed this S2

Been to have a look today with TurboTony.....it's not great I'm sorry to say. It's a £3.5k car in our opinion. Tony thinks it might be a S1.5 - wind up handles. Anyway summary is lovely sliver colour but very scratched. Alloys fill wheel arches nicely - but not my personal taste. Engine bay looked scruffy and drivers seat totally had it and needs refrubing. No carpets and interior rather scruffy. Battery flat too. Shame really as it could be lovely but a lot needs doing.

by your description even £3.5k sounds optimisticone other thing - how is that a private plate ? (let alone a £400 one LOL)

I didn't pay the private plate any attention I'm afraid.
It's just a personal thing but they don't interest me - and I don't see the point really.
If I was to have purchased this car I would want to have a period plate on it. I think that there is merit in being truthful about when the car is registered as opposed to trying to hide the fact via a private plate.
That said my name is Nigel so a private plate such as N1 GEL would make me look like a total cock so maybe that's why I'm biased !!!

Some comments from todays car hunt, which was an enjoyable drive around the Midlands. I have to admit to having the roof on - maybe I'm getting soft in my old age. Brilliant breakfast at Wellesbourne aerodrome cafe which is a regular venue and could be good for a meet up one day. Two cars viewed, neither of were the 'right' car. Disappointing that the cars appeared to be expensive for their condition. If you didn't know before, the camera can lie or at least be economical with the truth! Certainly not worth driving to the other end of the country to view a car just on the strength of some photos. A good chat with Phillpot and another opportunity to drool over that engine bay. I think it has put things into perspective for my mate,in terms of what and what isn't desirable regarding condition / specification and that the car he eventually buys could either be an S2 or S3 (or maybe an S1).

I agree, about not liking private plates, that is,( I would not dream of commenting on how your reg reflects onyou.)
I seem to have chosen cars that already have them on, but if anyone wants.the B10 ADB off the S make me an offer. The MG had an irish plate OXI 148, worth apparently £800, I left it on the car when sold.

i dont mind them - but my point was this isnt a private plate, it might have meant something to a previous owner but that still doesnt make it a PP.It's just a personal thing but they don't interest me - and I don't see the point really.

This S2 2.9 is currently for sale...owned by a friend of mine and I have driven it recently.
A lovely genuine car. R/roaded at 183bhp.
Body off rebuild, within the last 2 years and discs all round, plus loads of other good stuff.
He's only asking about 4,900 including TVR plate, as now has a Chimaera.

maybe im undervaluing them
but i reckon it'd take an exceptional S1/S2 to be worth over £4k in this current financial climate and time of yr.
though a couple of the later S3's i saw at breakfast club the other week could well be worth good money (the immaculate green one with the petrol filler moved into the boot is one that springs immediately to mind)

i paid a lot less than that for my car, and its spec is also exceptional It was advertised on PH and ebay etc, so anyone could have bought it.
