Guys - can someone tell me where the main ground / earth connections from the chassis to the engine and running gear should be please

Just had a weird symptom that i suspect is an earth fault

Got some good "jump leads" ?

Clip one, or even both, from engine direct to battery negative post to test scratchchin

Only Sunday just gone I had my S2 up on the ramps giving it a quick once over for MOT this coming Saturday and looked myself as I have had some issues with mad speedo readings but couldnt see any earth straps near or around the gearbox mount. Are the S1, S2, S3 different or should I have one?

On my S1 the earth strap is fitted between the attachment bolt securing the alternator mounting bracket to the front face of the engine, to the nearby chassis earth point on the driver's side top rail. There may or may not be an earth strap to the gearbox.

Should have one somewhere ?

It's a TVR, two cars built the same day could be different smile

I have one earth from battery to alternator and another to the base of the swirl pot but nothing from the engine block or gearbox that I can see.

On my S3 I have.

1 from batt to chassis near swirlpot.

1 from driver side chassis to engine block

Replacing these fixed my starting issues

And I have a bundle to passenger side anti roll bar mount.

I intend to untangle that lot and renew as required soon which should improve all sorts of little issues.
