I take her for a drive and immediately change my mind. The trouble is I just do not use the car enough to warrant the yearly running costs, but I think I will keep her!

Would anyone have any idea why the fan would come on the moment I turned the ignition? The car has been sat in the garage for about a month, not started, and the moment I turned the key (before I had even turned the engine) the fan was on full pelt????

Any advice appreciated

Thanks
Steve

Much the same, very little use but every time I open the garage door and see her standing there just waiting for a warm spring morning I just fall in love with that car again. I know it costs a few bob to run each year but I get a lot of pleasure from just owning it. I belive if you buy an S it is an investment in pleasure and fun and sometimes you cant measure that. Just keep it and enjoy.
My grandson has asked if he can have mine when I shuffle off, cheeky bu**er. I have no intention of going anywere for sometime yet but it rather commits me to keeping the car at present. What makes you keep yours?
Sorry cant help with the fan.

Hi Andrew,I know exactly what you mean. My kids scoffed a bit when I first got 'her', but my son found it necessary to 'borrow it for a few days' when he met a new woman.....and all the grandchildren have wanted to sit in the driving seat and have their photo taken. My youngest grandson, coming up to 4, delights in saying Teeeee Veeeee Reeee. I rather like him!! Nice to think my children/grandchildren might want to fight over one inheritance!

Do you have an over-ride switch on the dash that you've forgotten about (through lack of use)? might be left switched on...?

I have regretted getting rid of mine earlier this year... made worse when I saw her again briefly in her new home. If you can possibly afford to keep her and have the space to keep her then do... its not like they are at the top of their market at the minute is it ?

K wink

On my S1, it's located on the top RH side ( driver's side ) of the radiator.
It's held in place by a sort of clamping strap & has 2 spade terminals with wires attached which run very close to the inner (plywood) wing when you open the bonnet.
But I do think the relay could be sticking, have you tried that?

Glen

Otter switch shorting is a real possibility. Had our S3C do exactly that for a while. Terminals on the otter switch were loose and I could tweak them and get the fan to come on. I bent ther terminals back a bit and that's "cured" it, at least for now.

I did buy an otter switch as well though!
