Im not going back there.

Really quite freaky....

Firstly there was the blow out - we stayed overnight in Dover 'coz we had missed the ferry what with the RAC and everything... got one early the next day no problem.

Cue ten days (and over a thousand miles) of trouble free european motoring ( there is a stretch of deserted dual carriage way just off the A84 towards St Lo in Normandy that is beyond belief - fresh smooth tarmac and about 1 car every two miles or so, with some nice sweeping bends...)

The Tivver seems to turn far more heads over there too

Many a frenchman came up and mumbled something along the lines of 'bon voiture' when I was filling up at the service stations (though it could well have been 'english to$$er'...)

and the weather was good too!

- great thinks I, as we board the return ferry at Boulogne, congratulating the car and myself on having completed a thouroghly enjoyable trip.

As Im parking on the car deck the clutch feels a little sticky...hmmmm

Crossing done, I pull off the ferry and promptly lost all gears on the exit lane
(thankfully it made it off, I dont think I could have stood the humiliation of having the entire ferrys worth of cars passing my stricken motor )

Another call to the RAC - (thats two in two weeks, after the blow out the previous week) and a fella comes and bleeds the slave cylinder to get me on my way again.

After a couple of hours we are back home having been travelling/broken down for 9 hours I'm knackered.

My car has let me down twice in the year that I have owned it) and both times it was in Dover.

Im not going back!

PS - where do i I get a replacement slave cylinder from?

My thoughts exactly when some little drunken scrotes set about wrecking my car at 3am one morning in Dover (where I used to live), ripping all the wipers off and buggering up the wiper motor and then they set about vandalising the bodywork with the wiper arms they'd broken off.

I went ballistic, threw some clothes on and rushed outside to drive after them ....they had dispersed and disappeared. On my return to my house it became obvious that somebody else had called the police who then set about me with force taking my keys off me asking why I had vandalised and taken the car.

It took about 20 minutes to persuade the baby faced PC that they were my own keys now in his hand and that was my house behind him and it was my car that I'd been driving. Can you prove it's your house he said, I replied that I could if he gave me back my keys or woke up my neighbours.

I really did feel the victim that night. That wasn't the only hassles I had but I think you could be right about a Dover jinx!

Not the TVR I must add!
