adhesive for reveneering dash
Discussion
Hi All,setting up to re-veneer my dash on s3.just trying to find best glue .from research best method seems to be to glue thin plywood to the metal backing first then apply veneer to this.or just glue veneer direct to metal? wide choice of glues to pick from -car lives outside so moisture/temp changes more apparent.found old thread from london carriage co but never mentioned glue used.any thoughts appreciated.
I imagine that’s what they’d call a “Trade Secret”.
They don’t just glue the veneer on, I believe they use some sort of vacuum process to make sure it bonds properly without air bubbles. What are you planning to seal the finish with? Unless you have some experience of veneering this is a job you might be better off letting the professionals do. Might not be much more expensive in the long run as well by the time you’ve bought all the materials.
This is mine LCC did a couple of years ago.
