Spare battery and jump lead storage advice

After the discussion about using your S vs battery conditioners I thought the following little warning may be useful for others as dim as myself...

Last time I started the S I had to jump it as it'd been stood for a while (I blame the rain!). Having a spare battery in the garage and some handy jump leads I got it started no problem, went out for a nice run taking the spare battery and the jumps leads just in case.

Got home, changed the oil and left the car all happy ready for next time.

So today, sun is shining and it's time for roof off fun.

Turn the key, oops flat battery again, no problem, I'll just get the spare battery and the jump leads that are... in the boot...

You know the next bit how does the boot open?

I know someone () who has made up a "back up" cable release using a long manual choke cable with the knob discretely concealed in the cabin (easier with a black interior).
