Just wondering if anyone has replaced the door caps/strips on the inside of the doors?
The walnut finish on mine has flaked off, any ideas on an easy-ish repair?

Yes, it's certainly metal underneath the walnut, it's the strip just under the window inside the door

pies' site at www.tvrsseries.com has an explanation on how to remove these trims and polish them up. I suppose you could paint them in another colour instead, if you preferred.

I have also polished mine back to shiny aluminium. Looks a treat!

(Just found the reference on my web site at www.tvrgit.com - look under "diary" at 4 september last year - it's all in pictures!)

www.tvrsseries.com/removingdoortrim/removingdoortrim.htm

Total cost was £1.99 for a tin of laquer

The metal strip is ally, just gently sand of the flakey stuff and hay presto

Thanks for the advice, I have the walnut dash, so would prefer to get them re-done in walnut if I can. Just can't think of a way of doing it

My dash is wanut as well - but these polished strips go well with the ally gear knob and handbrake.

Thanks...looks like I'll have to get some ally bits fitted first, as everything is walnut at the moment!

I have had my door strips/caps done in American Walnut(see profile)by London Carridge Craft.£40 per door, but they look superb, and complement the steering wheel and gear knob.Had the same company do my Groff dash and heater panel.First class work, you will be pleased with the result.

My bro (page3) attacked his dash taking it down to the steel since the wife told him he couldn't afford new walnut.

Its worked pretty well and can be seen at www.tvrcc-middx.co.uk/gallery/view_photo.php?set_albumName=album02&id=IMG_1236

He's also posted it on pistonheads so worth searching out some old S threads.

Mine were done B4 I bought my S. Looks like some 1/2 round hard wood strip has been used (about 12mm dia)which has been stained and varnished then screwed from the back of the door card to attach.

Obviously someone has taken a bit of time to trim and round of the ends, but the finished result looks very good.

This route should be fairly easy for someone with reasonable diy skills - - and cheap! (ie less than £10)
