Looking through some old videos and found the Top Dog Cars program with the TVR V8S.

Was supposed to be a 944 convertible, more of a comparison, but the guy lied, he wasn't an owner, just a dealer who wanted to be on TV. He agreed the show and then sold the 944 so then turned up in a 911? Paul, one of the judges, was Penny's husband, they both love 911s, say no more... :-), was good fun though....
kers! I wish people would stop referring to TVRs as kit cars , selling cars in component form to avoid TAX was valid for a small company in the context of the era but its something the company did many years ago and not in the PW ownership , would experts refer to a Lotus Evora as having kit car heritage . As for the cost not being relevant - why not . It would be really interesting to know what experts own and drive and why they are considered experts . That being said i disagree with some of what Top Gear say but enjoy watching the program , vive la difference .

Dale,To be fair the program was a bit of a joke and a bit of fun, the 'Experts' were just anybody they could find really, if I recall I got one of the guys from the S forum to be an 'expert' on another episode which had a Countach if I recall.
Although they claim to have seen the cars in motion, they didnt, their opinion was based on the two cars being pushed into the studio? What was also comical, was that they made a jibe at the TVR reliability, in fact I have had 2 S series and neither ever broke down in 6 years, but the 911 didnt turn up for filming on the track because it broke down :-) they cut that bit out
Penny and her hubby (guy in the middle) both love 911s, so he was going to vote for the 911, the guy on the far left voted for the TVR and the lanky Conservative MP freak said he had to vote for the 911 due to not being able to fit into the TVR, was a bit of fun and not a serious program, hence there have been no follow up series :-)

That speaks volumes to me. You'll find it very hard to convert someone who already has a love for another marque or someone who can't fit it in it! 
The only person who's opinion really interested me, Ralph Hosier, voted for the V8S. Ralph ('expert' automotive engineer turned journalist/writer) writes for EVO magazine on all things technical and usually speaks total sense.
Bit of fun though I suppose.
