S3 exhaust manifolds
Discussion
I'm after a set as mine aren't stainless and are blowing where the manifolds link with rest of the system which is stainless, I found these from race tech but they seem a tad expensive- am I likely to find any cheaper anywhere else?

I believe that http://www.jpexhausts.co.uk/ make them for Racetech/ACT Products, try them direct or ring Adrian Venn he might be able to help!!
Mines also a bit dodgy and, unfortunately, that seems to be the going rate. Sorry about that!
My problem was first mentioned at the 2011 MOT but it's got through 2012 and 2013 OK (I only do 500 miles p.a. and it's garaged). If there had been a failure I probably would have had to get rid of it. I have been considering the possibility of having the old one welded up.

I also have to do some work to do on mine, the manifold pipes are ok its just the collectors that are going. Unfortunately someone welded the hockey stick pipes in so its going to be a bit of a problem to get the manifolds off. Anyone know if you can buy 3 into 1 collectors off the shelf.

Like this ?Might be a bit big, primaries about inch 'n three quarters and outlet two and an eighth but yours if you want it to "play with".
Bought it from http://www.mijexhaust.com/mij-exhaust-contact.html to try and repair one of my Taimar manifolds but ended up getting hold of a complete second hand manifold.
The lumps are magnets....
Why can't I retrieve a stainless bolt I drop into somewhere awkward with a magnet but my stainless kitchen knives stick to a magnetic knife rack?
Those magnets only just stuck so I guess its a low grade stainless????

Dunno why, but the word non-austenitic has come into my poor old addled mind. Those magnets only just stuck so I guess its a low grade stainless????
Praps a metallurgist on here can enlighten us. Something about the ratio of Fe to C & Ni & Cr?
I thought you knew everything about stainless steel, Mike.
I only know about Austin

Thanks for the offer Mike I will check out what else they do as I need to do both sides. Might be easier to just make some. Those magnets only just stuck so I guess its a low grade stainless????
There are 2 basic types of stainless austenitic (non-magnetic) and ferritic (magnetic).
