Are they a straight swap for the S1 design?
TVRDean come in for a bit of stick on these forums but at the end of the day if they have what you want at a price you accept, no problem?
Long way from you I know but I'd want to see them first to ensure they're in good nick and you're not swapping like for like !
S1 and S2 have the same chassis mounting points - they are one-piece.
S3 and newer have 2-piece arms - the inner bush is adjustable (by inserting shims between the bush and the arm) but still fits the same chassis mounting points AFAIK.
S4 and V8S have a wider track, so you would have to change both.
However, and here's the big difference, they ALL have different mounting points for the lower end of the spring / shock absorber, so you would have to change them in pairs unless you have a direct replacement, AND relocating the lower shock mounting will change the ride height (unless you have adjustable dampers and can raise / lower as necessary).
Have a look at this thread here which shows the difference between S1 and S3 - I believe S2 shock mounts are different again. My S3C has a different shock mounting again from the S3 shown:

Probably not clear enough to read but Mr Heath tells us that the S2 arm can be fitted to the S1 cars, and in fact the early arms were deleted so any cars being repaired would be fitted with S2 arms (must be swapped as a pair).

I personally have "no axe to grind" with TVR Dean having never dealt with them. Not sure what can or can't be said on here with the no naming or shaming rules but I do recall someone on here going to see an accident damaged S which turned out to be (in his opinion) far more damaged than described, a disappointing, long and wasted journey.
If Adrian @ can rebuild yours to "as new" for the same price as a pair of unknowm quality second hand units I'd say its a no brainer !!!!

Must admit I was thinking the same myself - I got a trailing arm refurbed by Adrian a few years ago - top job, quick, top bloke.Otherwise you could be spending the same money for two parts that might give you the same problems in a couple of years.
I also remember a disgruntled pher having a wasted trip, to be clear its a PAIR of s/h s2 arms for the price of one rebuild however as you say its almost a gamble , still not cleaned them up but even so it seems silly to just do one, as the other is probably not far behind, the car is off the road so I might have one rebuilt at a time as funds allow, its just a blow to be honest but I don't want to do it again in a few years. Thanks for your help I have got a copy of the bible ,will take a look tomorrow, btw if anyone's interested I got the handbrake and steering disconnected , all the electrics and brakes are in bits its on timber in a state of 'mini lift' but actually everything is off so body could lift quite a bit further it hangs off the carport quite happily, I won't lift it off due to lack of space the only concern is keeping it all square so as not to pop the screen. A big thanks to everyone who has helped me get this far.

it's not that, after all that is indeed what they do. if you have had dealings with him, like i have then it is reasonable to advise others to be wary.Anyone else could have out bid him had they wanted to
i don't really want to post any details, and suggest others make up their own minds but my experience was far from positive.

nah it wasnt that - although that car does raise some questions as he has relisted it immediately (presumably without having collected it due to distance and time) and without mentioning what the chim forum thought was quite obvious rear suspension damage Anyone else could have out bid him had they wanted to
the thing I was going on about is poor descriptions and condition not as expected etc with other peoples purchases etc
Guess everyones description of "light damage" is different and some people on PH do like to judge a car from a couple of small photo's, but must be very annoying, to say the least, to travel any considerable distance to view a car that is not in the condition you imagine from vendors description be it a salvage car or not.
Not defending the guy, don't know him nor ever dealt with him but second hand car dealers can be dodgey and a little conservative with the truth, as for damaged second hand car dealers.........

I decided a while ago I will not be buying the arms of him, just not confident without seeing them and too much money to lose, if mine can be repaired localy it will be or if on closer inspection its a lot worse it will go to Adrian@ I don't need another pair of unknown arms . First things first gotta get the bloody thing off
