daily driver - TVR Brains please

I trust many of you with TVR advice but cant work this out on my w124 merc daily driver.

I assume its an auto?

Many years ago I had an issue with a sierra auto and was told this was the only place to go - all the franchise dealers in Nottingham use them.

Very helpful when I dealt with them.

If it is a manual gearbox, and not the reverse light switch, I would guess that is the speed sensor. If it is at the rear of the box, then even more likely to be a speed sensor.

Many years ago my auto box (Fiat) started to down shift with a jolt which turned out to be the modulating vlave which sat in a similar position to your photo and was controlled by vacuum.
